As the leaves begin their descent and the air turns crisp, I find myself immersed in the creative rhythm of designing my Fall 2025 collection. This season, my focus is on crafting an avant-garde lineup that speaks to the earthy, spirited elegance of the independent woman who seeks uniqueness and artistry in her wardrobe. The color palette—dark ink black, olive, burnt orange, shadow gray, and deep violet—evokes the grounding tones of nature while exuding sophistication and mystery.
The Journey of Prints and Solids
Designing prints is where my imagination truly comes alive. Each motif begins as a hand-drawn sketch, evolving with layers of texture and detail. For this collection, I wanted to capture the interplay between nature's raw beauty and the delicate strength of the women I design for. Think abstract foliage, subtle geometrics, and vintage collage that echo autumn's fleeting moments.
The process of translating these designs into fabric is a labor of love. I collaborate closely with textile printers to achieve just the right balance of saturation and clarity. Velvet prints, for instance, are particularly challenging but so rewarding—the way the fabric catches light transforms the design into something almost three-dimensional. For the cottons, the prints are bold yet wearable, perfect for layering dresses, shirts, and slips.
Perfecting Color Through Hand-Dyeing
Color is the soul of this collection, and achieving the perfect shades requires meticulous hand-dyeing. Burnt orange must feel like a glowing ember; deep violet needs to be rich enough to draw you in. This isn’t something that can be rushed. My team and I test batch after batch, adjusting dye recipes and techniques until the colors resonate with the essence of the collection.
The natural variations that come from hand-dyeing add depth and character, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike. It’s these imperfections that make the garments feel alive and soulful—a far cry from the flat uniformity of mass-produced fashion.
Crafting with Slow Stitching
Once the fabrics are ready, the focus shifts to the artistry of construction. Slow stitching is at the heart of this collection. Each seam, each hem is a testament to the time and care poured into these garments. Beautiful finishes, like French seams and hand-bound edges, ensure the insides are as exquisite as the outsides.
Double gauze, with its softness and lightness, is transformed into ethereal slips that layer effortlessly under velvet dresses or over a printed cotton tunic or gauze shirt. The play of textures—smooth velvet against airy gauze—creates a sensory experience for the wearer. These are clothes meant to be felt as much as seen.
Earthy and Spirited
At its core, this collection is about connecting with the wearer on a deeper level. It’s for the woman who values individuality, who sees her wardrobe as an extension of her spirit. She’s drawn to pieces that tell a story, that carry the mark of human hands.
As I have sat surrounded by swatches and sketches, sewing machines humming in the background, I feel a profound gratitude for this process. Fashion, at its best, is an art form—and this collection is my canvas. Each piece is a celebration of earthy elegance, designed to become a cherished part of someone’s life.
In February 2025 the collection I call Velvet Earth, debuts to stores, we will have pre-order trunk-shows with our favorite boutiques so you can have an early look. I invite you to step into a world where clothing is more than just something to wear. It’s an experience, a connection, and above all, a reflection of your unique essence.
If you have a favorite shop, please ask them to have a trunk-show. It's a fun way to see the clothes before they hit the shops in August 2025.
Much love, tg
